Abstract The history of the Saliman family in the Denver area dates to the immigration of the family patriarch Paul Michael Saliman (known as Michael.) As did most Jewish families, Michael and his wife Bessie Radetsky Saliman settled on the west side near Sloan's Lake in 1886. Paul Michael pushed a cart through the alleys of Denver collecting rags and junk to re-sell, finally developing a business of collecting, cleaning and recycling milk bottles for local dairies. Abstract

Ellis and Bessie Ruttman Wedgle were married in Denver in 1914 after a brief courtship.The two arrived in the United States around 1912, Ellis emigrating from Poland and Bessie from Russia. In Denver, Ellis worked as a pawnbroker, and Bessie was a seamstress. They lived in Denver's west-side immigrant community and raised four children there. The collection consists of one item, the wedding dress worn by Bessie Wedgle in 1914.

Abstract Sinai and Dorothy Hoffman were both Russian, married there and had 14 children, 9 of whom survived to adulthood. Beginning in 1905, their children began immigrating to the United States with 19 members of the family immigrating by 1913, including spouses and a grandchild by then, the final son, his wife and two children came in 1922.
